How can I access my NDIS funds for travel?

Flow abilities adventures are funded from CORE budget in your NDIS plan using STA.

When accessing NDIS funds for a capacity building adventure or respite trip, it’s important to emphasise reasonable and necessary supports. These supports should directly relate to your disability and contribute to your social and emotional well-being, independence and community participation. We can assist in explaining how the trip supports your goals and enhances your quality of life, focusing on the aspects that are reasonable and necessary for your specific needs.

NDIS STA is in place to give your informal supports a break, try new things and build capacity.

As respite funds come from the same funding bucket as support work and other essential activities, it’s important to work with your support coordinator, LAC or plan manager to ensure you have enough funds for an adventure with us.

At the time of your plan review you can request to access additional funds for an adventure.

NDIA allows up to 28 days of respite per year.
